Amazing Fantasy No. 15 Sells for $1.1 Million

On Monday, a private seller sold a private buyer a near-mint issue of "Amazing Fantasy" No. 15, which is the debut of Spider-Man, for $1.1 million. "Amazing Fantasy" No. 15 was first published in 1962 and although $1.1 million is not the most ever paid for a comic book, it is the most paid for a Silver Age comic (mid-1950s - 1970).

Archie Comics #1 Brings Big Bucks

At a recent Heritage Auctions Vintage Comics & Comics Art Auction a high grade Archie Comics #1 sold for $167,300, the highest ever for a non-superhero based comic. This sale was surprising for most in the industry and it is likely going to lead the way for other non-superhero comics to bring in larger sums at auction.
