Graphic.ly, a social-leaning digital comic book reader, announced that their digital comic book reader is now available as an app for Android users. Users operating on Android 2.1 or higher will now be available to scan Graphic.ly’s library of 2,000+ comic books and graphic novels.
Graphic.ly’s extensive library contains comic books from more than 150 publishers including Marvel and users can either view paid-for books or free ones. Once you build your collection you can then view the digital copies that are specifically formatted for the device you are on.
Although it is nice to be able to view any book at any time via a web connection, the Graphic.ly app has the option of downloading your collection to your device so that you can read your collection offline, which is nice for users who might be out of range of a strong web connection. The Android version of the Graphic.ly app also has an Activity Stream that allows users to see comments and recommendations from other Graphic.ly members in real-time.
Another benefit for users who have existing Graphic.ly accounts is that they can synch their existing library with their Android device. Graphic.ly has also stated that this app is just the beginning of their relationship with Google, so it’s likely that there is much more to come from the digital comic reader in the future.
