The San Diego Comic Con International is coming right up, officially starting on July 21st. Everyone here at ComicBooks.com are going to bring you an update everyday leading up to the big event. So whether you plan on going or you just wish to attend vicariously through the world wide web, we've got you covered.
The first thing we’re looking at this week is the recent update to the exhibitor floor map that was posted on the official site. (For a larger version click here.)

I can already tell you that this is going to be the most action and body-packed place at Comic-Con, which isn’t really different from any other year, but there are a few interesting things to note. All the regulars are here right in the center as always, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, Mattel, and Sideshow Collectibles. Even Lego is getting a nice central booth down the main center aisle, which is a bit of a surprise. Perhaps Lego will be featuring plenty of new Star Wars sets, because as you can see, Lucasfilm actually has one of the biggest booths. And considering that it is also surrounded by Hasbro (maker of Star Wars toys), a little detour with Viz Media there, and then Dark Horse across the way (Star Wars comics distributor), there is going to be a whole lot of Star Wars goodness in that one area.
Marvel and DC are quite close as well, on opposite sides sure, but it will be interesting how they try to one-up each other this year. As we’ve reported, DC is relaunching so many new titles, I’m guessing that that will be the main focus. Expect Marvel to promote its films, even those far off ones like The Avengers, as well as such upcoming comic events as X-Men: Schism and Avenging Spider-Man.
As usual, you’ll be able to find the smaller presses and artists on the outskirts. If you keep spiraling around the hall, you’re sure to see them, and you definitely should. Some of the most unique and interesting things at comic-con are going to be found out past the center, where you can see properties you maybe didn’t know about yet. As always, Comic-Con is a fantastic place to meet fans, artists, and learn about new projects by talented people that otherwise fly under the radar.
If you’re attending, be prepared to wait in long lines, as company exclusives and autograph sessions always make the exhibitor hall a lengthy (but rewarding) process. We are going to cover programming and exclusives later this week, so you won’t miss out on any of the swag available this year.
San Diego Comic-Con International goes from July 21st – 24th.
