More News from Comic-Con

Fresh from Comic-Con, these are some of the biggest headlines to come out of day 1 and 2 of the ultimate geek gathering, including Wolverine, Avengers and… Beavis and Butt-head?!

Wolverine in Japan

During a panel on Hugh Jackman’s new film Real Steel, the actor spilled a juicy tidbit on another film he’s working on, The Wolverine.

He’ll be fighting Silver Samurai in a film set mostly in Japan.

This is exciting for any Wolverine fans for sure, but maybe not the biggest of surprises since the miniseries on which the film is based involves Wolverine a.k.a Logan fighting the Tokyo organized crime syndicate, while trying to win back his former lover Mariko Yashida.

I’m very excited to see Silver Samurai brought to the screen, and I’m especially excited to see the Japanese setting. Though it was a big loss to lose Aronofsky on this project, I like where this project is going despite that.

Marvel Goes Full Steam Ahead on Digital Distribution

Marvel had a panel all about its digital presence in the market yesterday, and they announced that they plan on having all Spider-man and X-Men titles digitally distributed on the same day as print copies by the end of the year.

This is a pretty significant move on Marvel’s part. They are tacitly saying that digital is on the same level of priority as print comics, meaning that the imminent shift to all digital gets one step closer.

The first comic to see this treatment is Amazing Spider-Man #666 and second being Uncanny X-Men #1 in November.

Avengers Academy and Avengers Origins

Avengers Academy is hitting in November, with a new school and new students.

Avengers Origins is something I’m really excited about. Straight from Marvel’s next big thing panel, they announced and previewed a series of one-offs about all the heroes that make up The Avengers, including, Vision, Ant-Man & Wasp, Quick Silver & Scarlet Witch, and more. The art for these books looks absolutely fantastic.

Beavis and Butt-head Do Comic-Con

Mike Judge was the star of his own panel last night where he discussed and premiered the new Beavis and Butt-head TV show that will air on MTV in the near future. He promised that the show would be picking up right where the old show left off, with the same brand of humor, including fart jokes and storylines revolving around the boys getting chicks.

The clip shown was about Beavis and Butt-head watching Twilight for the first time and seeing that vampires get hot chicks, so they set out to find a vampire to bite them. Of course, nothing goes to plan and they wind up getting a myriad of diseases from a biting hobo. The show will also still have the Mystery Science Theater 3000 style commentary bits, only now they will comment over other MTV shows such as Jersey shore instead of music videos.

I’ve been revisiting Beavis and Butt-head on Netflix streaming recently, and I have to say, I still find these guys funny. I’m glad they’re coming back.
