Marvel has started releasing images that tease at the possible return of the classic Fantastic Four group, including: Mr. Fantastic, Thing, Invisible Woman, and the Human Torch. Human Torch was killed off in the official Marvel canon not terribly long ago, and the new group and series “The Future Foundation” resulted, which is still in its infancy. The Future Foundation has not struck a chord with readers, and maintains disappointing sales.
Is it possible that Marvel would just turn around and so blatantly admit a wrong move by brining the Human Torch back to life? Most likely not, but they seem to be teasing us with these images that the classic Fantastic Four is returning in some fashion. It’s wholly possible that one or two new series are starting alongside Future Foundation, with one being stuck in an older timeline, before the Human Torch met his demised. And how does Spider-Man fit into all of this? He’s shown with the Future Foundation suit, not shown at all, and then shown in his regular costume.
The Fantastic Four may be back in classic form, or perhaps they will become the Fantastic Five. As the images say, we’ll have to wait and see in November 2011.
