Waiting for Wednesday: Tuesday Edition

Welcome to the first WFW of 2012! Hopefully you’ve had your fun New Year’s Eve party and taken down all of those obnoxious Christmas trinkets (don’t be that person who waits ‘til summer) and hopefully you’re sobered up and ready to buy some comics. Definitely seeing a lot of good stuff here this week including really great trade paperbacks, but my pick of the week is going to be Detective Comics #5. Why? Because I’ve enjoyed every installment so far, and because it is indicative of DC’s bold re-launch being a success. Last year changed DC comics. Some fans hate it and some love it, which I can tell you, is not abnormal in a geeky community such as this. Whatever side of the fence you’re on, DC has come into 2012 with a ton of potential in their hands, and I just wanted to make note of their risk-taking paying off, because companies of their caliber often don’t want to take risks, which leads to tepid material. Thankfully, this is not the case with DC and I hope 2012 keeps the same momentum. Detective Comics is my pick of the week, but I wanted to make an honorable mention about X-23 #20 being the last issue of that series. We reported about those Marvel cancellations awhile back and here are the repercussions. Until next week, readers!
