It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Young Justice on Cartoon Network. Since DC Nation started in March, you can find me glued to the tube every Saturday morning getting a fix of the cartoon like a pre-teen dork in training (a tad bit pathetic, I know, but I stopped caring a long time ago). Season 1 just wrapped up, but the show already has the next season lined up, so anyone who hasn’t had the chance to catch it, now is the time to start!
Season 1 Recap
In case you missed out on the action so far, here’s a quick recap with as few spoilers as possible. Batman has commissioned a group of sidekicks to do covert missions for the Justice League, which take the young heroes on dangerous missions around the world. Zatara, Artemis and Rocky have joined the original roster of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian and Superboy. After various encounters with classic DC foes which prove to be connected incidents, the team thwarts an attempt to use a dangerous cocktail of technology and magic to mind control the members of the Justice League, revealing a much larger scheme at hand, possibly with an alien source. The members were left brain-storming with the Justice League, attempting to connect the dots and figure out what evil lurks in the shadows.
What’s Coming in Season 2
We should see new costumes (Robin, Superboy and Aqualad have all seen some costume adjustments) and new superheroes (Wonder Girl and Beast Boy look as though they’ll join the roster). The team has gained experience and the respect of the Justice League, so we can expect the team to be dealing some even bigger and badder foes, as well as some of the personal issues brought about from season 1. The new episodes begin airing Saturday, April 28 at 10:00 A.M. / 9:00 A.M. central and here’s just a taste of what’s in store. Even if you’re not a kid, give it a shot! You’ll be glad you did.
