About comicbooks.com
An encyclopedia for every comic and manga ever published — what each issue is, why it matters, what it's worth, and where to buy or sell it. Think IMDb, for comics.
What we cover
Over 2.3 million issues across 230,000+ series, 150,000+ creators, and 85,000+ characters — from Golden Age classics to this week's new releases. Every issue, series, creator, and publisher gets its own page, all cross-linked so you can follow a character's first appearance to the creator who drew it to the rest of their run.
How we write our content
Our synopses, key-issue write-ups, creator biographies and series descriptions are original prose that we write and own. We gather the underlying facts — credits, dates, first appearances, characters — from authoritative catalogs, then write about them in our own words. We never copy descriptions from other sites.
- Spoiler-free by default. Issue summaries set up the hook without giving away the ending. Anything that could spoil the story lives behind a clearly-labelled “may contain spoilers” toggle.
- Key issues, explained. First appearances, origins, deaths and milestones are flagged and written up — grounded in sourced facts, not guesswork.
- We don't fabricate. Content is generated at scale but fact-checked with independent, cross-provider AI review and deterministic guards that reject unverifiable claims. When the facts are thin, we keep the write-up short and factual rather than invent detail.
- You can flag errors. Every synopsis has a 👍/👎 control — if something reads wrong, tell us and it goes into a review queue.
Covers & images
Cover images are the property of their respective publishers and are shown at display resolution for identification, each linking to that issue — a longstanding, settled use for catalogs and retailers. We host public-domain Golden Age covers outright. We honor takedown requests.
Sources & attribution
Factual catalog data is drawn from the Grand Comics Database (CC BY-SA 4.0) and Metron, among others. Facts themselves aren't copyrightable; the editorial prose around them is ours. Market values and listings are shown for reference and link out to the marketplace.
Buying & selling
We point you to the best place to buy an issue, and if you're selling — a single book or a whole collection — we'll make a fair offer and handle the grading and shipping. We buy collections →
