Who Is Luffy?

Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda and published by Shueisha (serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 1997). He is a young, carefree pirate with a massive dream: to find the legendary treasure known as the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. After accidentally eating a Devil Fruit called the Gum-Gum Fruit (Gomu Gomu no Mi), Luffy's body became like rubber, giving him incredible stretching and impact-based powers. He captains the Straw Hat Pirates, a crew of lovable misfits he recruits across his grand adventure through the seas. One Piece is one of the best-selling manga series of all time, and Luffy remains one of the most iconic characters in all of comics and manga.
