Batgirl
Greg Rucka and Mike Deodato brought this Batgirl onto the scene in 1999's Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, launching a figure who has since accumulated over 250 catalog appearances and earned two collector-recognized key issues — a track record that speaks for itself. She's a thoroughly Modern Age creation, forged in the gritty, character-driven storytelling that defined DC's late-'90s Bat-universe, and she's made her home across some of the most prestigious Gotham titles on the stands: Batgirl, Detective Comics, and Batman itself. The company she keeps is the cream of the Dark Knight's world — Batman, Bruce Wayne, Barbara Gordon, Oracle, Robin — which tells you everything about how deeply embedded she is in that mythology. With nearly three decades of publication history still running strong into 2026, this is a Batgirl whose legacy in the cape-and-cowl corner of DC is absolutely worth exploring.
