Joe Two Beans

A creature of the British Bronze Age war comics boom, Joe Two Beans burst onto the scene in January 1977 courtesy of the formidable creative pairing of John Wagner and Mike Western, debuting in the pages of Battle Picture Weekly and Valiant. IPC's war anthology titles were home to some of the era's most distinctive characters, and Joe Two Beans kept remarkable company — sharing those ink-stained pages with fan favourites like Johnny 'Red' Redburn and the legendary Major Eazy. With appearances spread across both Battle Picture Weekly and Valiant and Battle Action, and at least one collector-significant key issue to their name, this is a character who rewards the dedicated digger willing to track down those vivid, pulpy British weeklies of the late seventies.
