K'Maria
Stepping out of the early 1990s Marvel universe, K'Maria made her debut in Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #33 (1992), brought to life by writer Scott Lobdell and artist M. C. Wyman during comics' kinetic Copper/Modern Age. Her world is a shadowy one — she shares the page with a memorably eclectic cast including Knockabout, Psi-Borg, and the ominously named Violence, the kind of company that signals this corner of Marvel was anything but ordinary. With only a handful of appearances concentrated in that S.H.I.E.L.D. series, K'Maria is one of those intriguing, blink-and-you'll-miss-her figures from a rich era of espionage storytelling — exactly the sort of deep-cut discovery that makes digging through early '90s Marvel back issues so rewarding.
