Kharam-Akkad
Conjured into existence in 1972 by the legendary Bronze Age team of Roy Thomas and Barry Smith, Kharam-Akkad steps out of the pages of Conan the Barbarian as a figure steeped in the sword-and-sorcery atmosphere that made Marvel's Conan line one of the most atmospheric titles of its era. Though his catalog appearances are few, he shares those pages with Conan himself and a cast of rulers and powers — Yezdigerd, Chumballa Bey, Tarim — that signals he moves in consequential, dangerous company. There's something compelling about a character born in that fertile early-'70s creative moment and still surfacing in collections as recent as 2024; Kharam-Akkad may be a rare presence, but the world he inhabits is rich, and for devotees of classic Hyborian Age storytelling, every appearance counts.
