A quiet but genuine piece of Bronze Age Canadiana, Sam made their debut in 1979 courtesy of creator Bill Hinds, turning up in the pages of The Calgary Herald Comic Book. With appearances also logged in Love and The Family Circus, Sam keeps some notably wholesome company — sharing pages with the likes of P.J., Thel, Billy, Dolly, and Barfy. A rarity in the catalog with just three recorded appearances, Sam is exactly the kind of understated find that reminds collectors how richly varied the comic landscape of the late '70s and early '80s truly was beyond the superhero mainstream.
