Shep Gunderson

A minor but memorable face from Marvel's Dark Reign era, Shep Gunderson stepped onto the page in 2009's Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #1, courtesy of writer Brian Reed and artist Chris Bachalo. This Modern Age series was a deliciously dark corner of the Marvel universe, and Shep shares its pages with a rogues' gallery that includes Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson, and the wonderfully named Dementoid and Redeemer. With only four catalog appearances, Shep is a deep-cut character — exactly the kind of discovery that makes digging through a well-crafted limited series so rewarding for the dedicated collector.
