Aldo Capitanio
Aldo Capitanio (May 28, 1952 – September 19, 2001) was an Italian comic book artist particularly prized for his meticulous detail and a fondness for medieval settings. Born in Camisano Vicentino, Veneto, he studied at the Institute of Arts and Crafts in Padua before making his professional debut in 1970 on the periodical *Il Santo dei Miracoli*. Two years later, his work appeared in Luciano Secchi's *Eureka*, and by 1973 he had joined the staff of *Il Giornalino*, where he drew adventure stories. During the 1970s, he also contributed art to episodes of Enzo Biagi's *History of Italy in Comics*.
In the 1980s, Capitanio began working with Sergio Bonelli Editore, Italy’s foremost comics publisher. After drawing several installments of the crime series *Nick Raider*, he became a regular artist on the flagship western *Tex*, a role that defined much of his later career. He is credited on over a dozen issues across various *Tex* series and specials, as well as on *Nick Raider*. Capitanio died in 2001 at the age of 49.
