Alexandre Astier
Alexandre Astier was born on 16 June 1974 in France. He is best known as the creator, writer, director, editor, composer, and lead actor of the French television series *Kaamelott*, in which he also portrayed King Arthur. Astier’s path into comics began later in his career, with his first credited comic work appearing in 2006. Over the next seventeen years, he contributed to nineteen issues, most notably adapting his own *Kaamelott* stories into graphic novel form. His signature style blends sharp dialogue, historical parody, and character-driven humor, often collaborating with artists to translate his television vision to the page. While *Kaamelott* remains his defining creation, Astier’s work in comics has extended the series’ reach, allowing fans to explore its world in a new medium. Later in life, he continued to work across film, television, and music, maintaining a loyal following for his distinctive brand of comedy and storytelling. Though major comic industry awards are not a prominent part of his résumé, his influence on French pop culture is substantial, and his legacy as a multi-hyphenate storyteller endures.
