Arn Saba
Katherine Shannon Collins, better known by her pen name Arn Saba, was born on July 6, 1947, in Canada. She is best known for creating the long-running newspaper comic strip *Neil the Horse*, which she wrote and drew from 1975 to 1991. The strip, a whimsical musical fantasy following a singing horse and his friends, showcased Collins’s gentle humor and distinctive, clean-lined cartooning style. She entered comics through the alternative press, bringing a theatrical, almost vaudevillian sensibility to the medium. Her most credited work appears in *Neil the Horse Comics and Stories*, along with contributions to *Potlatch Presents The 1980 Comics Annual* and *Pox*. Collins also assembled the collection *The Collected Neil the Horse*. Later in life, she transitioned to writing and stepped back from cartooning. Her work on *Neil the Horse* earned her a nomination for the Eisner Award, and she remains a respected figure in Canadian comics for her singular, heartfelt creation.
