Bill Vallely
Bill Vallely (born September 24, 1952) is a versatile illustrator and writer whose freelance career has spanned comics, animation, television, and educational publishing. He is best known for his work on children’s comics and animated series, particularly for Marvel, DC, Valiant, Archie, Harvey, and Hanna-Barbera. In the 1990s, he was a frequent contributor to Nintendo Comics System titles, including *Super Mario Bros.* and *Game Boy*, as well as Archie’s *Jughead* and *The Flintstones*. His animation credits include *Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers*, *The Smurfs*, and *Bad Dog*. Beyond comics, Vallely co-wrote the *Star Trek: Voyager* episode “Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy” and contributed to the sitcoms *Brotherly Love* and *My Wife and Kids* alongside his brother Jim Vallely. He also created medical illustrations for Lifetime Television documentaries, wrote children’s science textbooks for Inkwell Press, and designed sets for national touring companies of Lincoln Center. Though not widely awarded, his adaptable style and steady output across multiple media made him a reliable presence in licensed comics and family entertainment. He remains active in illustration and writing.
