Binet
Binet is the professional name of French cartoonist Christian Binet, born in 1947 in Tulle, France. He is best known as the creator and artist of the long-running satirical series *Les Bidochon*, which he launched in the late 1970s. The strip, which lampoons the petty bourgeois aspirations and everyday absurdities of a hapless French couple, became a staple of the humor magazine *Fluide Glacial*, where Binet also contributed to the series *Kador*. His style is clean, expressive, and deadpan, perfectly suited for his observational comedy. Over a career spanning from 1978 to 2012, he worked primarily as a writer and artist on his own creations, with no major collaborations outside his own projects. *Les Bidochon* remains his signature achievement, running for multiple albums and spawning a stage adaptation. Binet received the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême in 1999, the highest honor in French comics, recognizing his enduring influence on the bande dessinée scene. He continues to be celebrated for his sharp, affectionate satire of French middle-class life.
