De Groot began his career in the early 1970s, eventually becoming best known for his work on the humorous detective series *Percy Pickwick* and the long-running *Clifton* series, where he often collaborated with writer Turk. He also contributed to the iconic Western series *Lucky Luke*, handling art, coloring, and inking duties.
