Bonvi
Franco Bonvicini, best known by his pen name Bonvi, was born on 31 March 1941 in Italy and died on 10 December 1995. He is most remembered as the creator of the long-running comic strips *Sturmtruppen* and *Nick Carter*. Bonvi entered the comics field in the 1960s, developing a sharp, satirical style that often blended absurdist humor with pointed social commentary. His best-known work, *Sturmtruppen*, is a gag strip set in a bumbling German army unit during World War II, which became a cultural phenomenon in Italy and was adapted into films and animated series. Bonvi also co-created the science-fiction comic *L'Eternauta*, collaborating with writer Sergio Bonelli. His artistic style was characterized by expressive, caricatured figures and a keen sense of timing in visual gags. Over his career, he worked as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 41 issues, with his work appearing in international editions such as *Die Sturmtruppen* and *Le bataillon en folie*. Bonvi's legacy endures through his influence on Italian comics and his ability to use humor to critique authority and war. He received several awards, including the Yellow Kid Award, and his work remains in print posthumously, with collections like *Die Sturmtruppen Somalia-Special* and *Nach der Bombe*.
