Philippe Cazaumayou, known professionally as Caza, was born on 14 November 1941 in France. He is best known as a comics artist whose surreal, detailed work graced the pages of *Pilote Mensuel* and *Heavy Metal Magazine* from the 1970s into the 2000s. Caza’s path into comics began with his early contributions to *Pilote*, where his distinctive style—marked by intricate linework, dreamlike landscapes, and a fascination with the strange and fantastic—quickly set him apart. He worked as both writer and artist, often handling his own coloring, inking, and lettering. His signature work includes the series *Caza*, which collected his short stories and showcased his ability to blend science fiction with psychological unease. Among his notable co-creations are the *Fantasier fra forstæderne* stories, which further explored his recurring themes of suburban alienation and the uncanny. Caza collaborated with key figures in the European comics scene, including writers and editors at *Pilote* and *Heavy Metal*, though he remained primarily a solo creator. Later in life, he continued to produce work for European anthologies, and his influence can be seen in the genre of fantastical, surrealist comics. While he has not received major mainstream awards, his contributions to the medium are respected among connoisseurs of European bande dessinée.
