David A. Goodman
David A. Goodman (born December 13, 1962) is an American television writer and producer best known in comics for his work adapting *The Orville* into graphic novels and comic series. He entered the entertainment industry as a television writer, contributing to series such as *The Golden Girls*, *Family Guy*, and *Futurama*—where he wrote the celebrated *Star Trek* parody episode "Where No Fan Has Gone Before." He also worked on *Star Trek: Enterprise* and produced the direct-to-video film *Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story*. In 2010, he wrote the comedy *Fred: The Movie* and its sequel, and later penned the 2022 film *Honor Society*.
Goodman’s comic book work, primarily for Dark Horse, began in 2019 and focuses on *The Orville*, for which he wrote multiple volumes including *The Orville: Season 1.5 – New Beginnings*, *Season 2.5 – Digressions*, and *Launch Day*, as well as the *Space Job* miniseries. His scripts often blend his trademark sci-fi humor with character-driven storytelling. He served as President of the Writers Guild of America West from 2017 to 2021.
