Dick Kinney was an American animator and comic book writer best known for his work on Disney comics, particularly stories featuring Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck. Born Richard Timothy Kinney on December 15, 1916, he was the younger brother of fellow Disney animator Jack Kinney. Kinney began his career in animation, contributing to story crews at Disney, Walter Lantz Productions, UPA, Paramount Cartoon Studios, and Jack Kinney Productions/King Features Syndicate for both theatrical and television cartoons. His most fondly remembered original storyline for animation was the Woody Woodpecker short *Niagara Fools*, which he later adapted into a comic book story starring his own creation, Fethry Duck.

In comics, Kinney is best known for co-creating the characters Fethry Duck and Hard Haid Moe with artist Al Hubbard. His writing credits span 89 issues from 1964 to 2022, with his work appearing most frequently in titles such as *Donald Duck*, *Anders And & Co.*, *Donald Duck & Co.*, *Wonderful World of Disney*, *Disney Masters*, and *Topolino*. Kinney died on March 24, 1985. His legacy endures through his inventive stories and characters, which remain a staple of Disney comics worldwide.
