Didier Conrad was born on 6 May 1959 in France. He is best known as the artist of the long-running *Asterix* series, a role he assumed in 2012, continuing the visual tradition of the beloved Gaulish hero. Conrad’s path into comics began in the early 1980s, and he has been credited as artist, colorist, inker, and writer on 69 issues spanning from 1983 to 2025. His signature work includes the satirical series *Helden ohne Skrupel* (also known as *Les Aventures de Bob Marone*), which he co-created with writer Yann, and the fantasy-adventure *Die Weiße Tigerin*. His style is clean, expressive, and dynamic, well-suited to both humorous and action-oriented storytelling. Among his notable co-creations is the series *Circus*, a collaboration with various writers. Conrad’s later career has been defined by his stewardship of *Asterix*, where he has worked closely with writer Jean-Yves Ferri to produce new albums that honor the classic spirit while introducing fresh energy. He has received the Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize for Best Series for his work on *Asterix*. His legacy is that of a craftsman who successfully took on one of the most iconic franchises in European comics, maintaining its visual identity while bringing his own flair to the page.
