Ed Pinsent
Ed Pinsent, born Edward Pinsent in 1960, is a British cartoonist, artist, and writer whose work helped define the small-press and alternative comics scene of the 1980s. He is best known for his contributions to anthologies like *Fast Fiction*, *Escape*, and *Fox Comics*, as well as the humor title *!Gag!* and the anthology *Vignette Comics*. Pinsent’s style is often characterized by its expressive linework and a wry, observational wit, frequently collaborating with fellow British underground figures. While his credited output spans only 11 issues between 1983 and 1989, his influence on the UK’s independent comics movement remains notable. Pinsent’s later life saw him move away from comics into fine art and writing, though his early work continues to be appreciated by collectors and historians of the period. He has not received major mainstream awards, but his reputation as a key figure in the British small-press revival endures.
