Edmond Baudoin is a French artist and writer of graphic novels, born 23 April 1942. He is best known for his fluid, expressive drawing style and introspective narratives that often explore memory, travel, and human connection. Baudoin began his career as an illustrator before moving into sequential art, where his loose, ink-wash technique and poetic storytelling set him apart from more traditional bande dessinée. His signature works include *Carla*, *Braakland*, and *Amatlan*, the latter a collaboration with writer Philippe Thirault. He has also worked as colorist and inker on *Das Zeichen des Widders* and *De doortocht*, and contributed to the biographical *Abbé Pierre*. Baudoin’s approach is deeply personal, often blending autobiography with fiction. He has been a key figure in the French alternative comics scene, influencing younger artists with his emphasis on artistic freedom. Later in life, he continued to produce graphic novels and teach workshops, maintaining a steady output into the 2020s. He has received several major awards, including the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême in 2006.
