Fiona Kai Avery
Fiona Kai Avery (born September 13, 1974) is an American writer best known for her work in both television and comics, particularly for creating the Marvel character Araña. She began her career in television as a reference editor for the fifth season of *Babylon 5*, continuing in that role for its spin-off *Crusade*. Avery contributed several scripts to *Crusade*, including "The Well of Forever" and "Patterns of the Soul," before the series was canceled. She then moved into comics, writing for Marvel and Top Cow on titles such as *The Amazing Spider-Man* and *Tomb Raider*. Her notable comic work includes three spin-offs of J. Michael Straczynski's *Rising Stars*—*Bright*, *Voices of the Dead*, and *Untouchable*—as well as *Araña: The Heart of the Spider*, which introduced the character she created for Marvel. Her writing credits span over 30 issues from 2001 to 2018, with her most frequent work appearing in *Tomb Raider: Journeys* and *Cursed*. Avery's contributions to comics and television have established her as a versatile storyteller, though she has not received major industry awards.
