Gary Gianni

Gary Gianni (born 1954) is an American comics artist widely recognized for his eight-year run illustrating the syndicated newspaper strip *Prince Valiant*. A graduate of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts (1976), he first worked as an illustrator for the *Chicago Tribune* and as a courtroom sketch artist for network television news before entering comics. His most credited titles include *Prinz Eisenherz*, *Godzilla*, *The Dark Horse Book of Horror*, *Gary Gianni's MonsterMen and Other Scary Stories*, *Dark Horse Extra*, and *Tom Strong*. Gianni’s style blends meticulous linework with a classic, atmospheric storytelling approach, often evoking early 20th-century adventure and horror comics. He collaborated with writers such as Mark Schultz and Mike Mignola, contributing to the *Hellboy* universe and the *MonsterMen* series. His co-creations include the *MonsterMen* characters and various short horror tales.
