Georges Chaulet
Georges Chaulet was a French author who created two of the most enduring series in French children's literature. Born on 25 January 1931, he first made his mark in 1957 with *Les 4 As*, a series following four young friends and their adventures. His most famous creation arrived in 1961 with *Fantômette*, a series that introduced the first female superhero in French literature, a masked heroine solving mysteries for young readers. He also penned the *Le Petit Lion* children's book series. Chaulet's work as a writer spanned from 1964 to 1989, with his stories appearing in numerous translated editions across Europe, including German, Dutch, and Swedish versions of *Les 4 As*. He passed away on 13 October 2012, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneer in juvenile fiction, particularly for his creation of a strong, independent female protagonist at a time when such characters were rare.
