Joseph "Jeph" Loeb III is an American comic book writer, screenwriter, and television producer whose career has spanned both Hollywood and the comics industry with unusual range. In comics, he is perhaps best recognized for a long creative partnership with artist Tim Sale, producing acclaimed runs on major characters including Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Daredevil, among others. That body of work has appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list and earned Loeb four Eisner Awards along with five Wizard Fan Awards. His most-credited titles across more than 600 issues — active from 1991 through the mid-2020s — include Superman, Cable, Superman/Batman, Batman, X-Force, and Wolverine, reflecting a comfort working across both DC and Marvel.
Before comics prominence, Loeb built a Hollywood résumé as a screenwriter, with credits on films such as Commando and Teen Wolf. He later moved into television, producing and writing on Smallville and Lost, and serving as writer and co-executive producer on NBC's Heroes from its 2006 premiere through 2008. From 2010 to 2019 he led Marvel Television as Head and Executive Vice President, overseeing the division during a period of significant expansion. His work has touched nearly every major superhero property in American comics, and his collaborations with Sale in particular remain touchstones of the medium's late-twentieth and early-twenty-first century output.
