Johan Wanloo was born on July 16, 1972, in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is best known for his satirical comic strips, which have appeared in Swedish newspapers, tabloids, and magazines, including the Swedish edition of *MAD Magazine*. His career began in 1987 when he sold a cartoon to the computer magazine *Svenska Hemdatornytt*.

Wanloo’s work often targets what he sees as pretentiousness, including snobs, radical political beliefs, and Goth or indie culture. A fan of retro-kitsch, he frequently parodies old pulp fiction and sometimes alters original artwork to create new stories. His signature style blends broad satire with a fondness for mid-century pop aesthetics. Among his notable collaborators and co-creations are the series *De äventyrslystna karlakarlarna*, *Gorilla*, *Magasin Optimal*, *Örn Blammo*, *Radio Gaga*, and *Angschölick i Borås*.

Active in comics from 1995 to 2020, Wanloo contributed to 18 issues in our catalog as an artist, inker, letterer, and writer. He remains a distinctive voice in Swedish comics, known for his unapologetic, old-fashioned sensibilities and his ability to find humor in cultural pretensions.
