Mark D. Bright
Mark D. Bright was born on December 27, 1955, and died on March 27, 2024. An American comic book artist and storyboarder, he sometimes used the pen name "Doc Bright," a nod to his initials. Bright is best remembered for penciling the classic Marvel Comics Iron Man storyline "Armor Wars" and for co-creating the satirical superhero duo Quantum and Woody with writer Christopher J. Priest. At DC Comics, he drew both *Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn* miniseries. He also painted the cover for Marvel's *Transformers* #5. Bright later worked as a freelance storyboard artist, though he reunited with Priest for a five-issue *Quantum and Woody* miniseries published by the revived Valiant Comics in 2014–2015. His most frequent credits include *Iron Man*, *X-Factor*, and *G.I. Joe, a Real American Hero*. Bright's style—clean, dynamic, and storytelling-focused—made him a reliable hand on superhero and action titles. His legacy rests on his key contributions to Iron Man's modern mythos and the offbeat humor of *Quantum and Woody*.
