Mark Harrison
1951–
Mark Harrison (born 1951) is a British comic book artist best known for his vivid, atmospheric work on the long-running anthology *2000 AD* and its spin-off series *Durham Red*. He entered the comics industry in the early 1990s, bringing a distinctive style that blended detailed linework with a rich, painterly use of color, often serving as his own colorist. Harrison’s most frequent collaborator was writer John Tomlinson, with whom he co-created the character Durham Red, a vampire bounty hunter who became a fan favorite in the *2000 AD* universe. His credits also include work on *Overkill*, *Doctor Fate*, and a *Star Wars* special edition, spanning from 1993 to 2017 across 32 issues. Though his output was relatively focused, his contributions to British comics left a lasting imprint, particularly for his ability to merge sci-fi grit with lush, almost cinematic visuals. Harrison’s later years saw less frequent work, but his legacy endures among readers who admire the moody, textured worlds he brought to life. He has not received major industry awards but remains a respected figure in the *2000 AD* community.
