Pat Kelley
Pat Kelley (born Horatious Adolphus "Pat" Kelly, 6 August 1944 – 16 July 2019) was a Jamaican singer and sound engineer best known for his work in rocksteady and reggae. He began his career in the mid-1960s, initially as a solo artist before joining the vocal group the Techniques. When lead singer Slim Smith departed in 1966, Kelly took his place, and the group flourished as the music scene shifted from ska to rocksteady. They produced a string of hits in 1967 and 1968, most notably "You Don't Care" and "Queen Majesty," songs later covered by artists such as Big Youth, Ken Parker, and Cornell Campbell. Beyond performing, Kelly was an innovative sound engineer who collaborated with legendary producers King Tubby, Bunny Lee, and Scientist. His later years were marked by his continued influence on reggae music.
