Paul Darrow (born Paul Valentine Birkby; 2 May 1941 – 3 June 2019) was an English actor and writer, best known for his portrayal of the sardonic anti-hero Kerr Avon in the BBC science fiction series *Blake's 7* from 1978 to 1981. Born in England, Darrow's television career included two guest appearances on *Doctor Who*: as Captain Hawkins in *Doctor Who and the Silurians* (1970) and as Tekker in *Timelash* (1985). He also provided the dry-witted voice of "Jack" for the independent radio stations JACKfm and Union JACK, offering commentary on current events.

In the world of comics, Darrow is credited on 11 issues as an artist, inker, letterer, and writer, with his most active period spanning 1951 to 1954. His most frequent credit appears in *Writer's Digest*. While his comic work is a minor footnote compared to his acting legacy, it reflects a versatile creative drive. Darrow's later life was defined by his enduring association with *Blake's 7*, which maintained a devoted fanbase through conventions and audio dramas. He passed away on 3 June 2019.
