Phil Elliott
Phil Elliott (born 1960) is a British comic book creator who emerged from the vibrant small-press scene of the 1980s. He is best known for his work as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across more than fifty issues, with his most frequent credits appearing on *Jack Staff*, *Fast Fiction*, *The Real Ghostbusters*, *Second City*, *Bluebeard*, and *Doctor Who*. Elliott’s career began with contributions to *Escape Magazine*, a key showcase for alternative British comics talent. His style, often clean and expressive, suited both quirky independent stories and licensed properties. He collaborated closely with writer Paul Grist on *Jack Staff*, bringing a lively, detailed line to the superhero series. Elliott also co-created the anthology *Fast Fiction*, a cornerstone of the small-press movement. Later in his career, he continued to work on a range of projects, from horror to humor, and remained active in the industry until at least 2015. While not a household name, Elliott’s steady, versatile craftsmanship made him a respected figure in British comics, particularly among fans of the 1980s alternative scene. His legacy lies in his contributions to independent publishing and his support of emerging creators.
