Philippe Tome
Philippe Tome, born Philippe Vandevelde on 24 February 1957 in Belgium, was a comics writer best known for his long-running collaborations on the *Spirou et Fantasio* and *Le Petit Spirou* series with artist Janry. He also created the gritty police series *Soda*, first with Luc Warnant and later Bruno Gazzotti, and wrote the thriller *Berceuse assassine* with Ralph Meyer and the fantasy series *Feux* with Marc Hardy. Early in his career, he worked as an assistant to cartoonist Dupa. Tome’s writing was marked by a blend of humor, adventure, and a willingness to tackle darker themes, particularly in *Soda*. He passed away on 5 October 2019, leaving behind a body of work that shaped modern Franco-Belgian comics. His contributions earned him lasting recognition, though specific major awards are not documented in available sources.
