Randall Thayer
Gary Reed (born May 21, 1956) was an American comic book writer and the publisher of Caliber Comics, the independent imprint that released some 1,300 titles during the 1990s and served as an early incubator for many rising creators. He wrote more than 200 comics and graphic novels, occasionally using pseudonyms such as Randall Thayer. Reed also served as Vice President of McFarlane Toys at its 1993 launch. His best-known writing credits include the supernatural series *Saint Germaine*, the historical mystery *Baker Street*, and the long-running horror title *Deadworld*. In addition to his comics work, Reed contributed to the role-playing game industry for Palladium and wrote story scenarios for the video game *Final Fight: Streetwise* for Capcom. He died on October 3, 2016. Reed’s legacy rests on his role as a publisher who championed creator-owned work and on his own prolific, genre-spanning storytelling.
