Robert Gigi
1926–2007
Robert Gigi, born July 29, 1926, in France, was a French cartoonist, illustrator, and archivist who worked across European comics from the mid-1960s into the 1980s. He is best known for his clean, expressive linework and his contributions to adventure and fantasy series, most notably *Scarlett Dream* and *Supertempo*, where he served as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer. Gigi’s style blended dynamic storytelling with meticulous detail, often collaborating with writers and artists on serialized tales for publications like *Gli Albi di Orient Express*, *Stripschrift*, and *Superserien*. He also contributed to *V-Magazine*, leaving a mark on the European small-press and album market. Gigi’s archival work—preserving and documenting comic history—was as significant as his own creations. He died on February 3, 2007. While not a household name, his steady output and dual role as creator and historian earned him respect among peers and collectors. His legacy endures through his clean, narrative-driven art and his quiet dedication to the craft.
