Sal Amendola
Sal Amendola (born 1948) is an Italian American comics artist and educator, best known for his decades of work at DC Comics. He entered the industry in the late 1960s, with credits spanning from 1969 to 2018 across 39 issues. Amendola is most recognized for his clean, dynamic linework and storytelling on superhero titles, particularly *Batman* and *Superman*, as well as on the Swedish-language comics *Lynvingen* and *Läderlappen*. He also contributed to *Archie's Pals 'n' Gals* and the anthology *Phoenix*. A steady hand as both artist and inker, he frequently collaborated with writers and editors at DC, though he never became a household name. Later in his career, Amendola shifted focus to teaching, passing on his craft to new generations of artists. While he did not achieve the same fame as some of his peers, his reliable, professional work helped sustain the visual identity of DC’s core characters through the 1970s and 1980s. His legacy lies in his quiet but consistent contributions to the industry, and he remains a respected figure among those who value the unsung artisans of mainstream comics.
