Scott R. Kurtz was born on March 15, 1971, in the United States. He is best known as the creator of the daily webcomic *PvP*, a workplace comedy set in a video-game magazine office that helped establish him as one of the earliest professional webcomic artists. Kurtz entered comics through the burgeoning online medium in the late 1990s, pioneering a direct-to-reader model that bypassed traditional print syndication. His signature style blends clean, expressive cartooning with sharp dialogue and pop-culture satire, often collaborating with fellow webcomic pioneers such as Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik of *Penny Arcade*. Kurtz co-created the series *Truth, Justin, and the American Way* and contributed to titles like *Liberty Meadows* and *All-New, All-Different Avengers Annual*. His work on *PvP* earned him multiple Eisner Award nominations and a place in the Web Cartoonists' Hall of Fame. Later in his career, Kurtz continued to produce *PvP* in print collections while expanding into podcasting and convention appearances, cementing his legacy as a trailblazer who helped define the economic and creative possibilities of webcomics.
