Todd Loren
Todd Loren (born Stuart Loren Shapiro, January 14, 1960 – June 18, 1992) was an American comic book publisher best known for founding Revolutionary Comics and its flagship title, *Rock 'N' Roll Comics*. Born in the United States, he entered the comics industry in the late 1980s, carving a niche by producing unauthorized biographical comics about rock musicians. As a writer, he was credited on 12 issues between 1989 and 1992, with his most frequent work appearing in *Rock N' Roll Comics*, *The Beatles Experience*, *Baseball Superstars Comics*, and *Stan Back!*. His approach blended pop culture with the comic book medium, often collaborating with artists to create irreverent, unauthorized portraits of music legends. Loren’s co-creations included the *Rock 'N' Roll Comics* series itself, which sparked both controversy and cult popularity due to its unlicensed nature. His life was cut short when he was murdered in 1992 at age 32. Though his career was brief, Loren’s publishing venture left a mark on the indie comics scene, pioneering the intersection of music fandom and sequential art. He received no major industry awards during his lifetime, but his work remains a footnote in the history of alternative comics publishing.
