Tommy Yune is a South Korean-born American comic book author and animator, best known for his manga-influenced work on *Speed Racer* and his central role in reviving classic anime properties such as *Battle of the Planets* and *Robotech* for comics and animation. He was born in South Korea and later moved to the United States. Yune began his comics career in 1992 with the cult anthropomorphic series *Buster the Amazing Bear*, then spent several years as a video game designer—contributing to *FX Fighter*, *Robotech: Battlecry*, and the award-winning *The Journeyman Project* series—before joining Jim Lee at Wildstorm Productions. In 1999, he wrote and illustrated *Speed Racer*, later collected as the graphic novel *Born to Race*, and followed it with the manga-style miniseries *Racer X* and *Danger Girl: Kamikaze*. His first feature-animation work was creating the computer-generated opening sequence for Kevin Altieri’s *Gen¹³*. In 2001, Yune left Wildstorm to become creative director at Harmony Gold USA, where he joined his brother, Steve Yun, the webmaster of the official *Robotech* site. He co-wrote the story for *Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles* and its canceled sequel *Robotech: The Shadow Rising*. Promoted to President of Animation at Harmony Gold in 2011, he helped write and produce *Robotech: Love Live Alive* and was involved in the failed 2014 Kickstarter pilot *Robotech: Academy*. Yune was close to his father, the late John S. Yun, who received special credits in *The Journeyman Project: Pegasus Prime* and *Robotech: Love Live Alive*. His most credited titles in comics include *Robotech*, *Robotech / Voltron*, and *Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles*.
