Troy Hickman
Troy Hickman is an American comic book writer best known for his creator-owned series *Common Grounds*, which earned him two Eisner Award nominations. Born in the United States, he entered the comics industry in the late 1990s, with his earliest credited work appearing in 1998. Hickman’s writing often explores the human side of superheroes, a theme central to *Common Grounds*, a series set in a coffee shop where costumed characters interact away from the battlefield. His other notable creation is *Twilight Guardian*, which won the Top Cow Pilot Season competition in 2008, leading to a one-shot that expanded the story of a neighborhood vigilante. Over a decade-long career, Hickman contributed to titles such as *Witchblade*, *Turok: Adon's Curse Official Comic Book Magazine*, and the short story *Narcoleptic Man*. His work on *Common Grounds* and its follow-up, *Common Grounds: Baker's Dozen*, showcases his talent for character-driven narratives and ensemble casts. Hickman’s collaborations included working with Top Cow Productions, a key partner in his career. After 2008, he stepped back from regular comics work, but his Eisner-nominated stories remain a touchstone for readers who appreciate thoughtful, slice-of-life takes on the genre.
