Wanderlei Silva is best known as a Brazilian former mixed martial artist, not a comic book creator. Born Wanderlei César da Silva on 3 July 1976 in Brazil, he rose to fame in Japan's Pride Fighting Championships and later competed in the UFC. He holds Pride records for most wins, knockouts, title defenses, and the longest winning streak. He was the PRIDE Middleweight Champion and won the 2003 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix Tournament. He later fought for Bellator MMA in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. In February 2024, he was announced as the next inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame's pioneer wing.
