Len Wein was an American comic book writer, born June 12, 1948, in New York City, and died September 10, 2017. He is best known for co-creating the X-Men's Wolverine, the Swamp Thing, and the original Human Torch's revival. Wein began his career in the late 1960s as an assistant editor at DC Comics, then moved to Marvel, where he wrote for *The Amazing Spider-Man*, *The Incredible Hulk*, and *The Uncanny X-Men*. His signature work includes the groundbreaking "Days of Future Past" storyline in *X-Men* with artist John Byrne. He also co-created the character of John Constantine with artists Steve Bissette and John Totleben in *Swamp Thing*. Wein's collaborations with artists like Bernie Wrightson, Dave Cockrum, and John Romita Sr. defined the Bronze Age of comics. He later served as editor-in-chief at Marvel and wrote for television, including *The Simpsons* and *Batman: The Animated Series*. Wein received the Inkpot Award in 1979 and the Eisner Award Hall of Fame induction in 2018. His legacy endures through his character creations and his mentorship of younger writers.
