Will Jacobs
Will Jacobs, born in 1955, is an American writer best known for his humorous and historical contributions to comics. He began his career in the 1980s alongside writing partner Gerard Jones, co-authoring *The Beaver Papers* (1984), a parody of *Leave It to Beaver*, and *The Comic Book Heroes* (1985), a history of the Silver Age onward. The pair also wrote articles for *Comics Feature* and *National Lampoon* before launching their own comic series, *The Trouble with Girls* (1987–1993), a quirky, character-driven humor title for which Jacobs is most credited as a writer. He also contributed to DC Comics’ *Justice League International* and several parts of the manga adaptation *Crying Freeman*. Jacobs’s style blended sharp wit with a deep affection for pop culture, often collaborating with Jones on offbeat, nostalgic projects. After leaving professional writing in the 1990s, he founded Avalon Books, a used and antiquarian book service. He and Jones returned to fiction in the 2010s with *The Beaver Papers 2* (2014) and *My Pal Splendid Man* (2015). Jacobs’s work remains a cult touchstone for fans of Silver Age history and irreverent humor.
