William Charles Morris was a political cartoonist and illustrator whose work appeared in newspapers and periodicals across the United States. Born March 6, 1874, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he began his career at the *Salt Lake Herald* before moving to Spokane, where he drew for *The Spokesman-Review* from 1904 to 1913. He later contributed to the *New-York Tribune*, the *New York Mail*, George Matthew Adams’ syndicate, and *Harper’s Weekly*. During the 1936 presidential campaign, he served on the publicity staff of the Republican National Committee. In the comic book realm, Morris is credited as an artist, inker, letterer, and writer on 14 issues between 1918 and 1922, most notably for *The American Legion Weekly* and *Successful Farming*. His style was rooted in the sharp, single-panel tradition of editorial cartooning, often rendered in bold linework with a clear narrative punch. Morris died of a heart attack on April 10, 1940, in Nyack, New York, at age 66. While no major awards are recorded, his long career in political and commercial illustration reflects a steady hand in early 20th-century American visual journalism.
